Since starting Conscious Action we have been able to meet and connect with so many amazing beings - one of them is Kate!
It's so wonderful to be able to able to have an ambassador that aligns with our values, that is sharing her story, her learnings and inspiring so many people.
We wanted all of you to know a bit more about Kate so we asked her a few questions:
1. Who is Kate?
I'm an entrepreneur, gardener, kombucha maker, bike rider, dog-and-bird-baby-mumma, yogi, baker, musician, zero waster, beach bum, reader, wife, aunty, and writer. In no particular order either! I exist to help the people and the planet not only get along, but thrive. 2. How do others describe you? I'm often referred to as 'busy': which I hate. But it's often the truth. I have a lot on my plate: all the time, and it's all important stuff too. I'm a go-getter, I can't sit still watching movies, my home is everyone else's home, and I will make time for you no matter the case. Sometimes I'm described as a raging hippie, but most of the time I hide that so people don't dismiss what I have to say. Hah. 3. Can you tell us a bit about your values and the message you’re wanting people to engage with? I believe there is no hierarchy between people and the planet, and understanding this, plus understanding yourself (and that you ARE nature), brings the most happiness and fulfilment. It's my goal to help people understand this fully. For us to continue existing on this planet, we need to acknowledge and adapt our existence to be more loving and respecting of our environment.
4. What would an amazing day look like for you? I would wake up to cuddles with my puppy and husband. Breakfast would be had with my two birds on my shoulders (in fact this is most days), I would head to my local Sunday farmer's market, return with lots of produce, and start cooking up a storm in the kitchen. Next would be pottering in the garden or going on a hike, a trip to the beach to cool off, followed by kombucha and a book. I would have a 15 minute nap before friends come over for dinner. We'd sit on the grass outside, with good music (Mumford & Sons) playing in the background. They'd go home by 8:30pm, and I would be in bed by 9:30pm because I'm a nana.
5. What’s one thing you do that people are surprised by? I rescue potatoes out of the compost if flatmates put them in there (shhh), I still eat cheese that comes in plastic, and I water my plants with the water that I boil my moon cup in. 6. Why being a Conscious Action ambassador? I love the Conscious Action community I have met and witnessed so far, and I am honoured to be part of it. It takes individual action to change, but when many individuals come together, the networks are wider, and change is faster. We are stronger together, and Conscious Action are a team who align with my values, and draw in those who are willing to listen and make change in their own communities. I'm excited to be part of it. 7. For people wanting to stay in the know about what you are up to, where’s the best place for them to go?
